Course Overview

Who was Christopher Columbus? While most textbooks claim he was from Genoa, Italy, scholars have debated his true origins for centuries. We’ll explore the mystery of Columbus’s background, examining competing theories, historical documents, and new evidence that challenges the traditional story. Was he truly Italian, or something else entirely? You’ll also explore how questions of identity and legacy shape our understanding of history, and why Columbus’s origins still inspire debate today. Mr. Cervantes will show a documentary and discuss Columbus’ DNA markers and what they prove.  The results may surprise you and may change your understanding of Columbus
