Course Overview

2,000 years ago, Celtic girls and boys from wealthy families were trained to become warriors, so they could defend their lands, herds and other assets. Celtic tribes were constantly ready for battle. The Irish epic, The Cattle Raid of Cooley, pits Queen Maeve and her army from Western Ireland against the super-hero Cuchulain of Ulster. Maeve’s adventures cross over from myth into history. After Caesar conquered Britain, the warrior-queen Boudicca of the Iceni tribe almost drove the Romans out of Britain. In Ireland, pirate-queen, Grace O’Malley harassed the navies of Elizabeth I, France and Spain. Believe it … it’s true!
