Course Overview

This class is an introductory course on the lives and writings of Martin Buber (1878-1965) and Abraham Joshua Heschel (1907-1972), two of the greatest minds of the 20th Century. Speaking from the Jewish tradition, these two writers explore the Biblical text and its meaning for our troubled times. They also offer philosophical analysis and explore themes of social justice and spirituality. These writers have shaped the thinking of several generations of Jewish and Christian leaders. No previous background is required.
