Course Overview

In 58 BCE, Julius Caesar pushed north from Rome into the wild of Gaul (modern day France), an unruly land of barbarian Celts.  He extended the border of the Roman Empire as far west as Britain in less than eight years, tallying up 800 cities, a million slaves, three million dead not to mention the Roman throne.  We will explore the relationship Rome had with the Celts during this important time in Roman and Celtic history. Mr. Cervantes will show a short film that will trace the history of Julius Caesar and his conquest of Gaul.
