Course Overview

The course will summarize the “water budget” of inflows, outflows, and ground-water storage for New Mexico and the water budget for the Middle Rio Grande valley, past, present, and predicted. We'll look at water rights in various areas of New Mexico and changes over the past 25 years. The prospects for future water supply in north-central New Mexico, including projects to import water from the Pecos and San Augustin basins, “deep aquifer” wells, desalination, and transfers from agriculture will be covered.
