Course Overview

It’s the end of WWII. Tayo, a young Laguna Pueblo man, has returned to the US, from the Pacific theater. In a military hospital,  he is suffering from battle fatigue. Riddled with guilt and the traumas of war, the doctors send him home. But this is only the beginning of his true journey, as he deals with racism, the death of family, the loss of culture, and remorse. Join us as we follow Tayo’s struggle to recover himself and his Laguna culture. For the first session, please have read the first third of the book by Leslie Marmon Silko. available from your public library, bookseller or at amazon.com.
