Course Overview

Receive an orientation to the most common form of substance abuse treatment delivery in the US: group therapies. What kinds of treatment can be effectively delivered in a group format? Skills and styles for managing groups are presented, along with important format issues (open vs. closed groups, confidentiality, cross-talk, group size, managing attrition). Ways to combine individual and group therapies are discussed. Differences from mutual-help groups are considered. NAADAC approved for 16 professional training hours (CEUs). NM Counseling and Therapy Practice Board recognizes NAADAC CEUs.

Who Should Attend

  • Students working towards becoming a licensed Addiction Counselors (LSAA or LADAC)
  • Currently licensed counselors or those working in the behavioral health field who want additional training or are in need of license renewal hours

Additional Information

To obtain a certificate of completion and NAADAC CEU hours, the participant has to attend all sessions and obtain a 70% or above on the end of course exam.
