Course Overview
Explore the art, challenges, and joy of jazz guitar improvisation in this hands-on class. Students will learn tunes alongside related scales, arpeggios, chord voicings, and comping techniques. The class also covers phrasing and stylistic examples that capture the language of jazz, as well as ear training to support improvisational development. Each session includes time to jam on the material covered, helping you apply concepts in real-time musical contexts.
Please bring an acoustic guitar along with a notebook and pencil.
Michael Anthony is a musician’s musician. Throughout the sixties and seventies, he built his reputation and his chops as a professional studio musician. Today, Michael applies his experience as a musician in the realm of education, teaching guitar workshops and master classes.
