Course Overview

Course offered through UNM New Mexico Traffic Safety Center

This 40-hour course provides instruction strategies for teaching Driver Education in the classroom and behind the wheel. Completion of this training is required in order to be certified to teach Driver Education in either private Driver Education schools or in public schools.

Instructors currently teaching classroom curriculum or behind the wheel on a training waiver, are required to take this course in order to continue teaching.

Who Should Attend

Instructors currently teaching classroom curriculum or behind the wheel on a training waiver, are required to take this course in order to continue teaching.

Additional Information

Enrollment will close 34 days prior to the start date.

It’s important to remember that all training requirements must be met by June 30, 2026, for any new instructor to continue teaching after July 1, 2026.
