Course Overview

Watercolor painting is inspiring and intriguing! In this course introduction, students will explore and learn to design and create lively watercolors. Students will follow a step by step process about learning how to control paint and experience the transparent qualities of watercolor. We will also discuss basic art fundamentals including basic color theory, value, and composition. Wet and dry techniques will be introduced along with glazing, color lifting, and wash. Class exercises and demos will help to build a concept of possibilities and skill to enjoy vibrant and creative watercolors!

Do you want to create lively and vibrant watercolor compositions? This is an introductory class. No experience required!

MATERIALS

- Strathmore Watercolor Paper Pad 12"x12" 12 sheets 298112 140lb tape binding ( Amazon )

- 1 Faber Castell (this brand only) kneaded eraser

- 1 2B graphite Drawing pencil, and a small hand held graphite pencil sharpener

- 2 clear pint sized containers for water (plastic cup or jar)

- 1 roll Absorbent Paper Towels

- 1 small round plastic watercolor paint tray palette with 10 wells. ( Hobby Lobby)

BRUSHES Transon 11pc or 13pc Round Paint Brush Set (Amazon) OR Royal & Langnickel Soft Grip Gold 5pc Round/SG303 ( Amazon or Michaels )

WATERCOLORS: Available on AMAZON MozArt Watercolor Paint Essential Set 24 Vibrant Colors Note: The watercolors listed are essential to achieving the best results in this course. Please bring only what is listed. If you cannot find materials, we will discuss resources at first class session.
