Course Overview

Beauty? Brains? Historically, women have been lauded for the first and dismissed for the second. Cleopatra, Helen of Troy, Marilyn Monroe. All celebrated beauties. What of Lisa Meitner, Elizabeth Magie, and Ada Lovelace?  Meitner discovered the double helix formation, Elizabeth Magie invented the game Monopoly, and Ada Lovelace was one of the world’s first computer geniuses.  Pinkerton Kate Warne saved Abraham Lincoln from assassination while Virginia Hall was the allied spy most feared by the Nazis. Anne Bonney was a pirate.  All were inconvenient women who made history. Join us for a class about women whose curves were in their brains - not their bodies.
