Course Overview

The story of Joaquin Murrieta was a subject of controversy in 1850's California. Ángel de Cervantes will show a documentary on the legacy of Joaquin Murrieta and his inspiration for the 1919 novel that became "The Curse of Capistrano" by Johnston McCulley. He will also have a discussion on Hispanic identity in the American Southwest during the 19th Century and its connection to Joaquin Murrieta.
