Course Overview

In recent years, drones have emerged as an important airborne platform for aerial photo collection. Drones, also referred to as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), play a crucial role in the fields of geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing. Drone collected aerial images have been used in various fields. Aerial images captured by drones have found extensive applications across various domains. This course is designed to provide an overview of UAS standards and regulations, as well as the technical and applied aspects of utilizing drones as a tool for collecting geospatial data. Participants will have one (1) session to fly drones, with instructor, at Balloon Fiesta Park. (drones provided by instructor)

This course is tailored for professionals seeking expertise in the application of UAS within their organizations, specifically in the realms of civil engineering, surveying, geography, geology, hydrology, archaeology, real estate management, photographer, event planning, marketing, urban planning, management and leadership, and geospatial intelligence.

Participants must attend 7 of the 8 sessions to receive Digital Badge.

Prerequisites

Basic understanding of Geographic Information Systems concepts or equivalent knowledge.

Continuous internet access, PC (Windows 8 or later) or MAC, and microphone are required to attend the Live Online session. Webcam is recommended. Latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge browsers are also recommended.
