10676 - Pickleball: Advanced Beginners
Course Overview
Why is pickleball both the fastest-growing sport in America and so popular? Pickleball has relatively short games, the court is small, it is highly social, and it is very competitive yet friendly. Pickleball is played either by two players in Singles, or with four players in Doubles. Pickleball is accessible to all ages and fitness levels. Equipment costs are relatively small.
Pickleball is a paddle sport invented in 1965 to combine the best elements of tennis, badminton, racquetball, and table tennis. Pickleball is played with solid paddle and a plastic ball with holes. The court is relatively small, only 44’ x 20’, with a three-foot-high net. The ball is somewhat “dead” which allows active play on a small court. The court features a non-volley zone near the net that minimizes the advantage of size and strength.
