38780 - Transforming Stressful and Traumatic Events
Course Overview
Life-changing events like serious illness, accidents, assault, divorce, financial loss and the death of a loved one represent some of life’s greatest challenges – and greatest opportunities. “Post-traumatic growth” describes the positive transformation of our lives following great difficulties. We can, with proper support, do something even more profound than recover from such events. We can step into happier, more fulfilling lives than we’ve ever lived before. This course teaches powerful, evidence-based methods to achieve precisely this outcome.Georgetown University’s School Of Medicine faculty Julie Staples and Daniel Mintie have spent a combined six decades researching, writing about and healing the aftereffects of trauma. In this course they’ll teach the integrative mind-body protocol presented in their self-help book, Reclaiming Life After Trauma: Healing PTSD With Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Yoga. Drawing on cutting-edge cognitive-behavioral therapy and Kundalini yoga practices that target the stress response and other trauma symptoms, these tools have helped many people worldwide reduce or eliminate post-traumatic suffering and step forward into peaceful, joyous, productive lives. This course is NAADAC approved for 6 professional training hours.
