2232 - Abstract Drawing: Line, Form, Value and Texture
Course Overview
The beauty of drawing is in its immediacy, freshness, and general simplicity. When combined with the democracy and infinite application of abstraction you have a working method that can be everything and nothing, or something in-between, depending on the perspective. Utilizing various exercises that rely on process, or memory/experience, or art history, or nature, combined or singular, the student will explore the potential of works on paper. Line, form, color/value, and surface will be the initial starting point for the creation of compositional strategies. Informal critiques and discussions about contemporary art will be a consistent component of the class. Everyone is welcome to this class as long as curiosity and a will to make is present. Be a magician and make something from nothing.
