Course Overview

Plant medicine cannot be complete without talking about the food we ingest on a daily basis. In this course, we will learn integrative understandings of nourishment and sustenance, exploring how culture informs how and what we eat and, in return, how we heal. We will also become familiar with non Western philosophies regarding food as medicine, with a focus on Ayurvedic and Buddhist lineages. Students can expect to walk away having a firm grasp on how individual constitution, metabolism, tastes, state of mind, and time of year all factor into how food can be used as medicine. Also learn what kinds of foods are best for particular health needs, including:  boosting immunity, clearing lymphatic congestion, avoiding seasonal allergies, and ending insomnia.
