The Bill of Rights are more and more cited and debated these days than perhaps at any time in American history. Why were these first ten amendments added to the Constitution? Why are they considered to be among the most important sections of the Constitutions to this day? What are these Amendments intended to provide and protect? To answer these and other questions, we will approach the Bill of Rights historically, including key Supreme Court cases that have defined or defied these Rights, to understand their meaning and intent.
