Course Overview

Ayurveda, also known as "Ayurvedic Medicine" is one of the oldest holistic whole-body healing systems. Originating in India over 3,000 years ago, the term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge); translating to "knowledge of life". It is a holistic and integrated approach to wellness, promoting harmony and balance of body, mind and spirit. This course will take you on a journey of understanding the basic and intermediate concepts and practical application of Ayurveda and Ayurveda herbalism. Providing the tools to incorporate into one's own life or to help others in support of overall health, balance and quality of life. 

What You'll Learn

Introduction to Ayurveda:

  • Basic concepts of Ayurveda (doshas & qualities of nature) & Ayurvedic Nutrition
  • Application of Ayurvedic Nutrition and one's diet, Ayurvedic self-care practices

Intermediate Concepts:

  • Ayurvedic Anatomy & Physiology (Tissue system, channels of the body, the various "winds")
  • The Subtypes of Doshas
  • The stages of disease, disease "directions" and common diseases through an Ayurvedic lens
  • The Ayurvedic means of diagnosis
  • Basic understanding of treatments and therapeutics

Ayurvedic Herbalism: 

  • Basic concepts of herbalism and herbal actions
  • 20 Ayurvedic herbs, their properties and uses
  • Herbal formulations and how to proportion

Who Should Attend

  • Anyone interested in Ayurveda and holistic health 
  • Current holistic health care practitioners

Participants must attend 14 of the 18 sessions to receive a Digital Badge of Completion.
