Course Overview

This class will touch on many facets of what it means to sing the blues. While working on blues standards, students will learn some of the specific idioms and vocabulary that set the blues apart from other forms of music. This class will also explore how personal experiences and emotions can be integrated into singing to create music that comes from the soul. The course culminates with a recital on the last day of class.

Who Should Attend

A desire to better understand the many facets of singing the blues is required. Formal training is not.

This class is eligible for Tuition Remission under Personal Enrichment.

New Mexico Jazz Workshop will require proof of vaccination for class participation.
