19804 - The Great Mother Goddess Around the World

Course Overview

For 5,000 years, most cultures around the world worshipped a female deity as the creative power behind all human, animal and plant fertility. She was known as the Great Mother. Since women, like the land, were seen as the primary sources of life, the Earth Mother Goddess was seen as the natural giver of life and fertility. Dr. Sutton will show goddesses from Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Ireland, Europe, Mexico, and more. To bring the concept of the Great Mother Goddess closer to us, Dr. Sutton will explore Black Madonnas in Europe and the Americas, including Our Lady of Guadalupe.
