Course Overview

Smart Girl Self Defense by Jackson Wink

A five-hour woman-focused self-defense class, the program’s based on situation awareness, escapes and practical techniques. With goals based on escaping the attacker and fighting when necessary, the aim is to make self-defense accessible to women of all ages and abilities.

Students will learn what creates a resilient person and how they can optimize resiliency in their own lives. Also discussed are the concepts of fight, flight and freeze as well as strategies for minimizing a freeze. The class is based in psychology, a little neuroscience and practical techniques.

Guest speakers often participate as well, and include APD, former military Ops and a Forensic Psychologist exposing the student to the issues surrounding human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual exploitation and crime. Students will leave with a new approach to safety and self-defense. They are given "homework" to continue their learning and awareness skills.
