10700 - Smart Girl Self Defense by Jackson Wink
Course Overview
Smart Girl Self Defense by Jackson Wink
A woman-focused self-defense class, the program’s based on situation awareness, escapes and practical techniques. With goals based on escaping the attacker and fighting when necessary, the aim is to make self-defense accessible to women of all ages and abilities.
Students will learn what creates a resilient person and how they can optimize resiliency in their own lives. Also discussed are the concepts of fight, flight and freeze as well as strategies for minimizing a freeze. The class is based in psychology, a little neuroscience and practical techniques.
Guest speakers often participate as well, and include APD, former military Ops and a Forensic Psychologist exposing the student to the issues surrounding human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual exploitation and crime. Students will leave with a new approach to safety and self-defense. They are given "homework" to continue their learning and awareness skills.
"They provided real world examples of how to prevent putting yourself in unsafe conditions and how to escape if you are attacked. It's great that the course includes free refresher classes."
