Course Overview

Explore the impact of the Civil Rights Movement from 1973 to the present, connecting past struggles to today’s social landscape. We'll examine changes in housing, education, politics, and economic opportunity, as well as evolving conversations around gender, gender identity, and disability rights, including the Americans with Disabilities Act. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how the movement’s legacy continues to shape public policy and everyday life. We'll emerge better equipped to interpret current events, engage in informed dialogue, and appreciate the ongoing pursuit of equity and inclusion. Join Jim Lewis, an experienced teacher with direct involvement in all these issues, as we connect the lessons of the past with the experiences of today.
