Course Overview

Obtain the knowledge and industry-recognized credentials to stand out in the fast-growing healthcare industry. We have partnered with AAPC to help you get certified as a medical biller and coder. The program includes Medical Fundamentals, then proceeds to Medical Billing for CPB (Certified Professional Billing) and Medical Coding for CPC Certifications. This self-paced course is 120 hours with 16-month access.

Medical billers and coders play a vital role in the healthcare industry. They are responsible for translating medical information (diagnoses, tests, treatments, and procedures) into standardized codes that are used to bill government and commercial payers. Their work bridges the gap between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients — to ensure proper billing for medical services provided, while maintaining the integrity of the healthcare system.

Medical Fundamentals:
Students will learn medical terminology, anatomy, and pathophysiology for interpreting medical records and applying to coding.
Medical Billing (CPB):
In the Certified Professional Billing (CPB) course, students will develop skills related to maintaining all aspects of the revenue cycle, particularly patient and payer billing and collections. Without expertise in medical billing and the nuances of payer requirements, healthcare provider reimbursement may be compromised. Through rigorous examination and experience, CPBs have proven knowledge of how to submit claims compliant with government regulations and private payer policies. They follow up on claim statuses, resolve claim denials, submit appeals, post payments and adjustments, and manage collections. The CPB medical billing credential is vital to the financial success of the professional healthcare services claims process.
Medical Coding (CPC):
The Certified Professional Coding course teaches fundamental medical coding skills for professional services (physicians, mid-level providers, etc.) and prepares you to take AAPC's CPC exam. The course covers CPT®, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding with hands-on practice coding real-world, redacted medical records. Assuring a broad knowledge in reviewing and assigning the correct procedure and diagnosis codes for professional (physician) services.
