2139 - Intermediate Watercolor Painting
Course Overview
Learn the skills necessary to create accomplished, rewarding watercolor paintings. In this intermediate course, you will improve on foundational techniques and apply them to more complex subjects and visual effects. Emphasis will be on drawing, form, texture, and layered wash while working on still life and landscape. Continue your practice with wash, glaze, gradients, color mixing, masking and brush technique.
This course is only open to those who have attended 2147 Introduction to Watercolor

Windsor and Newton Watercolor Medium, Art Masking Fluid, Colorless, 75ml, (2.5 oz) bottle
Creative Mark Masking Fluid Paint Brushes set of 10 watercolor brushes contains synthetic hair with short wood handles (optional, will discuss in class)
Windsor and Newton Cotman Watercolor Paint Set 12 colors, 8ml tubes
Transon Watercolor Palette with Folding lid 18 wells 2 large mixing areas and 1 large mixing tray
Strathmore 400 Series Watercolor Block Cold Press, 11"x15" bound 4 sides 15 sheets/block
Strathmore (298-103) 400 Series Watercolor Pad 5.5"x8.5", 12 Sheets,

9"x12" sketch book (or any drawing paper)
2- 10 well ROUND plastic watercolor palette with ROUND WELLS
2 CLEAR PLASTIC CUPS for water 12oz.
I roll heavy paper towels
1 sheet of any WHITE paper 20"x24" to cover workspace
1 notebook for weekly lessons and homework assignments
Bring only materials listed, no substitutions, if you aren't able to find or purchase what is on the list bring only what you can find and we will discuss resources for materials first day of class.
