96480 - Adult Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
Course Overview
Live Online 4/3/25 - 5/1/25
The University of New Mexico is offering a 5-week, evening, Live Online ECMO course from April 3 through May 1, 2025. This program is designed for learners who want to develop an understanding of ECMO, ECMO management, and extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) in the adult population.
The course is built around working professionals’ schedules and is offered two nights a week for 5 weeks with a subsequent in-person skills station (separate signup and $750 fee).
ECMO experts from Critical Care and Emergency Medicine will provide this Live Online education allowing you to remain in your community and learn the material without disrupting your clinical practice.
In-person 6/12/25 - 6/13/25
This course is designed for learners who have completed the 5 weeks Live Online UNM ECMO course.
This one-and-a-half-day hands-on skills session is available for up to 30 learners. The skills station will be June 12-13. If more than 30 learners, a second session 1.5-day hands-on skills session will be June 13-14. This in-person training is the part 2 of 2 courses required for a full UNM Adult ECMO Management Certificate. Registration will be through UNM Continuing Education.
In small groups of no more than 5 learners per station you will receive hands-on experience assembling ECMO circuits, understanding the ECMO devices used at your institution, working through patient case scenarios for VA and VV ECMO, ECPR, and troubleshooting of clinical problems, complications and more advanced issues such as issues surrounding reperfusion cannulae and LV distention.
