Course Overview

In this workshop, students will explore the intricate world of clay and glasswork. We'll discuss objectives and timeline, followed by a discussion of design ideas, supported by examples. Students will then dive into hands-on practice, creating 3-4 clay molds, each measuring 6x6 inches.

Day Two begins with a review of fired clay molds and slumped glass, followed by an in-depth discussion of glass design principles. Students will create four pieces, with the opportunity to refine their clay molds if necessary.

On Day Three, the focus shifts to slumped glass pieces, introducing the art of painting on glass, using frit and layering glass sheets. Students will have time to create additional glass pieces or molds. The final day is dedicated to critique and troubleshooting, allowing for refinement before creating their final pieces and getting ready for firing.
