Course Overview
A survey of the biology of drug effects and addiction. Included are structure/function of neurons, neurotransmitters, drug distribution and metabolism, and effects on the central nervous system. Also considered are biological bases of dependence, medications in treating addiction, genetic risk factors, and toxic effects of drugs on bodily organs, including pregnancy and the unborn fetus. NAADAC Approved for 16 professional training hours.
