39457 - Cognitive Behavioral Therapies
Course Overview
This course presents an overview of evidence-based, cognitive behavioral therapies. These treatments include: coping skills training, contingency management, behavioral contracting, overviews of some techniques used to treat substance abuse, and cultural considerations. This class will utilize several exercises and role plays to practice skills in case formulation, treatment planning, and treatment delivery. Course is approved by NAADAC for 16 hours.What You'll Learn
Upon completing this course, students should understand basic concepts of classical and operant conditioning, and how to use some cognitive-behavioral principles to treat people with addictive disorders. Students should be able to incorporate many of these techniques into their therapy practice/internships.
Who Should Attend
- Those interested Substance Abuse Counseling
- Those who want to become licensed Addiction Counselors (LSAA or LADAC)
- Currently licensed counselors or those working in the behavioral health field who want additional training or are in need of license renewal hours
Additional Information
Student will need to attend all 4 sessions and complete exam or final assignment at a passing grade of 70% or above to receive a course certificate.UNM Tuition Remission
