Course Overview

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to Islam, designed for students seeking to understand the core beliefs, practices, and historical development of this major world religion. Through lectures, readings, and discussions, students will explore key areas including the historical origins of Islam, including the life of the Prophet Muhammad, the early Islamic community, and the expansion of the Islamic empire core beliefs. We'll discuss rituals and practices and the diversity within Islam. We'll explore contemporary challenges and misconceptions about Islam, including its role in global politics and its representation in media. Our goal is to foster a respectful and informed dialogue about Islam and its role in the modern world.
