Course Overview

This class introduces the basic anatomy of the skull, neck, and shoulders, along with foundational techniques for blocking in facial features. Through instructor demonstrations, students will learn how to build structure, block in hair, and sculpt life-like, illusionistic eyes.

We will work primarily in water-based clay and spend several sessions sculpting from a live model.

  • Build confidence in sculpting key elements such as facial planes, hair masses, and life-like, illusionistic eyes.
  • Strengthen observational skills by working from a live model and translating visual information into three-dimensional form using water-based clay.
