Course Overview

The oldest toy in the world is a stick. In the hands of a Neolithic child, it probably was used to hit anything round from a coconut to a clump of mud to his brother’s head. Out of such simple “sport” would arise games that test athletic prowess, attract fanatical audiences, and involve huge sums of money. But the pro-athlete of tomorrow starts in the same way as that Neolithic child. Find a ball and do something with it, and along the way create a vocabulary to describe your game. Oh, and if you are “dealt” a rainy day, stay inside and play some cards or a game of Monopoly. Join us for an exploration of the language of baseball, football, tennis, golf, poker – and even a hot game of Candyland in Part II of The Sportin’ Life.
