Course Overview

The profession of counseling is no longer limited to in-person, face-to-face interactions. Distance counseling, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI) are being used to serve clients. Although these technologies may support delivery of counseling services to clients, counselors and their clients must understand the benefits and limitations of using technologies, chatbots and apps. This course will discuss the role of technology in counseling, ethical considerations for use of technology and AI along with ethical obligations and recommendations. NAADAC approved for 4 professional training hours.

What You'll Learn

  • Review ethical standards that address technology and AI in counseling.
  • Develop an understanding of the role of technology and AI in counseling. 
  • Identify potential ethical challenges and discuss potential courses of action.

Who Should Attend

  • Student working towards becoming a licensed counselor in LSAA or LADAC or in general counseling.
  • Currently licensed counselors or those working in the behavioral health field who want additional training or are in need of license renewal hours.

Additional Information

Student will need to attend all course sessions and pass final exam or assignment with a 70% or above to receive course completion certificate.
