96351 - Writing Actionable & Motivating Performance Reviews
Course Overview
Performance reviews get a bad reputation because too often, employees find their reviews vague or not actionable. We can make performance reviews truly useful and applicable by using language that helps employees grow.
Writing reviews takes time, but the best reviews are simultaneously concise while specific. Learn to provide your direct reports with clear, actionable critiques and steps forward. By using a writing formula, we can easily write multiple reviews in less time, while still providing advice.
This course will help you write reviews that are objective, evidence-based, and motivating.
What You'll Learn
- Recognize the two sides of written meaning: informational and emotional
- Write review statements that offer tangible, actionable ways forward
- Write review statements that motivate the reader to reflect and grow
- Reduce time spent writing reviews by applying a writing formula
- Use concise, actionable language
- Provide redirection without demotivating
- Use objective, evidence-based language in your reviews
Who Should Attend
This course supports supervisors who provide either formal or informal feedback (or both kinds of feedback) to their employees. If you write annual reviews, give verbal check-ins, or need to provide redirection, this course will help you communicate actionably yet empathetically.
