Course Overview

Oh, the horror of it all, young women bobbed their hair, rejected the corset, raised their skirts, and rouged their knees. They rode in cars - unchaperoned - with boys, drank cocktails, and danced to jazz in speakeasies. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote about them; his wife was one. Sixty years later, Cyndi Lauper would channel her inner flapper when she wrote “And girls, they wanna have fun . . .” It all came tumbling down on October 29, 1929 with the stock market crash and the beginning of the Great Depression. But “it’s a gas” while it lasted. Join us. It’ll be “the cat’s meow”.
