2301 - Intermediate Encaustic
Course Overview
This intermediate encaustic course is designed for students who have completed the Intro to Encaustic course at UNM Continuing Education and are familiar with the Encaustic Stylus Pro. Building on foundational skills, students will develop artwork with greater intention by exploring composition and artistic concepts while expanding their technical abilities. The course covers advanced encaustic techniques: including the Encaustic Stylus Pro, traditional encaustic paint, encaustic monoprinting, and heat gun applications, and incorporates mixed media elements such as paper, beads, and found objects to create rich, layered works.What You'll Learn
In this class we will focus on:
- Art Concepts - creating pieces with clear intention and strong composition
- Encaustic Techniques - encaustic stylus pro, traditional encaustic paint, encaustic monoprints, and heat gun use
- Mixed Media - using paper, beads, and other found objects to enhance our encaustic work
Who Should Attend
This course is recommended for students who have taken the Intro to Encaustic Course at UNM Continuing Education and are familiar with the encaustic stylus pro.
Additional Information
