Mythology consists of sacred legends that explain the origins of life and the world, and offer life guidance through the actions of deities and heroic people. These narratives are embedded in respected rituals and traditions. Over the past two thousand years, Western cultures have shifted from mythology to history. That means using factual sources, archaeology, and written records to reconstruct the past and guide future events. History shows that seeking change and progress instead of stability has consequences. What has been lost and what has been gained?
