Course Overview

Young Adult novels often feature talking animals. Cute, right? Sure, but these cute, fluffy characters can be powerful voices in the fight against fascism. We’ll discuss and analyze two texts, Watership Down and Maus. Both novels explore themes of fascism, genocide, and diaspora, and examine their profound effects on the communities they portray. We’ll delve into these impacts, considering their consequences for both human and animal. We’ll also do some writing around these topics!
