Course Overview

Baruch Spinoza was a reclusive philosopher who lived from 1632-1677. A Jew, he was excommunicated from the Amsterdam synagogue for espousing a philosophy that ran afoul of Jewish doctrine. His major work, Ethics, was published posthumously. This course will be a journey through the Ethics exploring its five parts and discovering why Spinoza was called the "God-intoxicated philosopher."
