Did you know that Loveless Medical facility had a women’s astronaut program? We’ll discuss the potters, environmentalists, doctors, storytellers, astronomers, trading post operators and native companions, geologists, astronomers, ladies of the army forts who’ve contributed to the Land of Enchantment. Tina brings their lives and accomplishments to life through stories, history, and her one-of-a-kind quilted artwork. Not all the Women of New Mexico were famous nor even local, but they built the New Mexico we enjoy today.

Cristina "Tina" Gravatt is a self-taught seamstress who worked from home when her children were young. Being able to stand waste, she saved the scraps from the many projects and taught herself patchwork, applique and quilting. In 1986, she began creating historically accurate miniature quilts and collecting antique and vintage doll beds on which to display them. She created vignettes by using the quilts and beds to illustrate her talks on American and European quilting and its social history. Tina has worked in 39 states and 9 countries, authored three books, written numerous quilting articles and was a columnist for two quilting magazines.
