More and more, we’re hearing about the benefits of mindfulness. But often, information about mindfulness can be confusing or contradictory. This class will provide an overview of some of the most rigorous scientific research on the health-promoting effects of mindfulness. We’ll specifically look at studies that support positive outcomes with mindfulness-based programs for pain and difficult emotions.
Research shows that not only does mindfulness change the brain, but that it involves neural processes that are unique and distinct other mind-body approaches. We’ll also sample some short guided mindfulness meditation practices.

This class is intended for anyone who is curious about mindfulness or wants to know more about the science supporting the health benefits of mindfulness-based programs.
It is appropriate for those with little or no experience with mindfulness meditation as well as those who already have an established practice.
