Every city and county requires an authoritative and reliable geographic portal to support emergency services needs. Students will learn how to prepare and evaluate data as they harvest internal and external GIS data resources. This course will take students through the configuration process of building backend infrastructure to setup a geoportal server within Amazon Web Services.

She has expertise in GIS systems architecture, application development, data acquisition and integration with non-GIS systems. She has primarily worked in disaster response and situational awareness.
Why my course is useful
All organizations have made a move to central dissemination of geographic data for rapid decision making. For emergency management, there are many considerations for data and enduser needs. This course gives you the skills to setup a geographic portal quickly and reliably before you are under stressful conditions.
Why I built it
There was software. There was a need. That's it. I never took a course that showed me how to do this project. And therefore, it took a lot of trial, error, and many discussions to produce my first Geoportal. I know that emergency management deals with lives and property so I wanted others to have a shortcut to improve safety and emergency response.
What I hope for you
Take this course and you can show up at the table with an informed technical voice. Rather than trying to figure out the components, you'll be able to make your architecture decisions with certainty. I want you to join the club of GIS architects that truly save lives!
