The new field of acoustic archaeology has discovered this resonance in Paleolithic caves and Neolithic monuments. In some painted caves in France and Spain, many animal images were created near the most resonant places. In Neolithic stone structures, acoustic archaeologists are pursuing a sense of how the past sounded. They have concluded that rituals almost certainly included many kinds of sound.
