Course Overview

This course explores the impact of cultural diversity on the therapeutic process. Through didactic and experiential exercises students will examine their own cultural identity and assumptions as well as learning how to work effectively with clients of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, cultural traditions, gender identities and sexual orientations. The melting pot, color blindness, political correctness and other American myths that serve to prevent real connection in the therapeutic process will be explored with safety and humor.

Course is NAADAC approved for 16 professional training hours.

Who Should Attend

  • Those currently working towards becoming a licensed Addiction Counselor (LSAA or LADAC) 
  • Those in need of additional training in the Substance Abuse Counseling field.
  • Currently licensed counselors or those working in the behavioral health field who are in need of additional hours for their license renewal.

Additional Information

Student will need to attend both days and take course exam on last day, passing with 70% or above to receive course completion certificate.
