Course Overview

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a dynamic approach to helping people find and activate their own resources for change. In this course, students will learn about the theoretical basis for MI and touch on the supporting research for the approach. Students will learn how to apply MI techniques and strategies to a variety of issues focusing on addictions. MI will also be applied experientially to assist students in making changes in their own lives in order to facilitate learning the approach on a deep level.  NAADAC Approved for 16 professional training hours. 

Who Should Attend

  • Those interested in substance abuse counseling
  • Those who want to become licensed Addiction Counselors (LSAA or LADAC)
  • Currently licensed counselors or those working in the behavioral health field who want additional training or are in need of license renewal hours

Additional Information

Student has to attend both days and receive a 70% or greater on the final course assignment or exam to pass course and receive a certificate of completion.
