Mesoamerica, stretching from central Mexico to parts of Central America, was home to several pre-Columbian societies before Spanish colonization. This class will explore the historical connection between certain New Mexican families and the Mēxihcahs, Tlaxcallāns, and Chichimecas. A short film will trace the history of these groups, and we will discuss which families show markers most closely associated with these ancient civilizations.
