Course OverviewThe warmth of summer days has provided endless inspiration to artists, poets, and most certainly, composers. From Vivaldi’s imagining of “Summer” in his Four Seasons concerti, to the bluesy lullaby “Summertime” written by George Gershwin for Porgy and Bess, there is a wealth of classical music influenced by the long days of summer. This class will explore works by better (as well as lesser) known composers, all of whom endeavored to fill their music with the warmth of the sun.
