This live online course offers knowledge of Curanderismo, the art of Mexican traditional healing, in the Southwest and Mexico, involving medicinal herbs and rituals; medicinal plants for women; medicinal plants of the Southwest; ceremonial use of the sweat lodge (temazcal); energetic cleansings (limpias); tinctures and microdosis; traditional healing and teaching Curanderismo during the pandemic; healing grief through the Day of the Dead, Día de los Muertos, and many more.
Guest speakers will include researchers in the field and healers from the US and Mexico.
What You'll Learn
Students will be able to:
- Explain the concept of traditional Mexican folk healing
- Compare different classic methods of traditional medicine
- Examine fundamental elements of involved in the temazcal ceremonies from Mexico, New Mexico, and New York
- Discuss the meaning of spiritual/energetic rituals in Curanderismo
Students will explore an integrative approach to traditional medicine and will have the opportunity to examine demonstrations that incorporate Curanderismo with various traditional and holistic health techniques.
