Instructor Highlight: Jim Stringfield

James T. Stringfield, Jr., Jim served with the US Air Force from February 1970 to March 1990 retiring at the highest enlisted rank as a Chief Master Sergeant (E-9). He served as a High- performance and pressure systems welder, NCO leadership school air force instructor, and a large unit (>500 people) First Sergeant. He completed two tours in Vietnam and Thailand in Southeast Asia. He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three campaign star devices, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm device, and outstanding Unit ribbon with valor device.

He served primarily in aircraft maintenance units. Chief Stringfield served on numerous deployments to Europe to support NATO. He also served on a special assignment as part of an advanced team to establish a new NATO US Air Force Base in Belgium. This on-time completion contributed to the end of the cold war.

Chief Stringfield was also awarded Five Meritorious Medals and Commendation Medal.

He now works with UNM Continuing Education as an instructor. He is a Real Estate Educator’s Association Fold Standard Instructor and a Certified Distance Education Instructor (CDEI).

Jim is married to the former Jo Ann Greene, and they have four daughters, Jessica, Jacque, Julie, and Jenny. They also have six grandchildren with another due in late October.
